Innovative Outdoor Environments

Landscape Design
A great design is a blend of new and old surroundings. First, we’ll establish the look or theme of the landscape—a natural shade garden, a formal English garden, or contemporary design. We’ll discuss your favorite colors, plants and fragrances and decide if any existing plants can be utilized. A well-planned garden is interesting all the time.  Your new landscape will incorporate a diverse blend of trees, shrubs, and perennials with year-round color and interest. A subtle mix of stones, wood, and water can also be used to enrich the environment. On the day of your presentation you will be shown a color design with photographs and descriptions of all plants.

Landscape Renovation
We are often called out to renovate an overgrown landscape. Sometimes it’s a newly purchased home, or maybe an existing landscape that’s just been neglected. In an effort to recycle and economize, we will discover which existing plants can be saved and used again. Oftentimes an older plant just needs to be pruned and sometimes it can be moved to another area of the landscape.

Hardscapes
Patios, walkways, walls, and driveways are often referred to as hardscapes. Hardscapes add usable square footage to a home, by creating an outdoor living area. A place for an outdoor kitchen, to gather with friends by the fire, or spend a Sunday morning with a cup of coffee and the newspaper. A wall can also create extra sitting space, and create an enclosure to make the patio feel like a room.

Putting Greens
Are you aware that over 60% of your golf game is made up by your short game? Over 40% of a round of gold is just putting. Wouldn’t it be great if you could practice this along with your drive and maybe have a beer and a cigar with a couple of the guys? Well now you can… at home!

Our putting greens are made with synthetic turf, which incorporate two different turf lengths. One is made for the greens surface and the other is made for the fringe. The greens turf is ½” tall, and the fringe turf is 1” tall. This one-inch turf allows for making approach shots from up to 100 yards away. With this turf we can make any slope or undulations imaginable. The turf is filled with a coal slag that is a very fine, black, sand-like material. The amount of slag determines the speed and bounce the ball will have. You can specify the amount of slag added, when the green is being built. All putting greens also come with a 3’ x 3’ chipping mat.

The greens come with three warrantees: 1-year money back; 5-years against fading; and 10 years against manufacturing defects.  Ask us to send out some literature and a free video.  We can also build any size and shape sand trap.

Bocce Ball Courts
Bocce Ball is a great Italian sport often played with a group of four on a long alley with sitting areas at each end. Team members stand on opposite ends of the court and roll balls towards an object ball in the court. Bocce Ball courts are made with gravel and are covered with a layer of oyster shells. It’s an inexpensive way to add value and interest to your home and a great way to increase family time. Be the talk of the neighborhood with this ultimate centerpiece.

Landscape Lighting
Too often we think of the landscape as a daytime pleasure. However, by the time our workday ends, dinner is eaten, and the kids have finished their homework, the sun has set. With low-voltage lighting you can enjoy the outdoors as late as you want.

Lighting also provides security. Timers can be set to go off and on, up to four times a day. Lights can go on early in the morning and again when you come home from work. You can also illuminate steps and doors.  Fixtures come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors. Bulbs come in different wattages to create mood lighting or security lighting.

Stone Veneer
Stone Veneer is a concrete veneer that has become popular the past few years. It looks similar to real stone at a fraction of the cost and is the perfect answer for the people who love the look of stone but ate on a tighter budget. Stone Veneer can be set inside or outside. These stones are set on fireplaces, interior and exterior walls, and columns.  They can be set so they have a mortar joint or a dry joint. Choose from a variety of thickness, patterns and colors.

Grading and Drainage
Many people have water problems  We provide many solutions such as: installing a French drain; setting drain boxes and pipes; grading the area with topsoil; burying the sump pump and all downspouts; or creating a dry creek bed if water is coming across your yard from other areas. This can all be integrated into the landscape with water-loving plant material.

Brush Clearing
We remove trees, brush, vines and rocks so that the area can then be graded and prepared for seed, mulch, gardens, etc. Walking paths can be cut through wooded lots and woodchips can be spread throughout any area.

Outdoor Kitchens & Fire Pits
Lately people are spending more and more time outdoors. With pools, spas, patios, and gardening it's hard to be inside on a beautiful weekend. With that said outdoor kitchens are fast becoming a convenient way of bringing the indoors out. An outdoor kitchen can be as simple as a built in grill, and as lavish as a grill, refrigerator, pizza oven, and fireplace. All capped with beautiful granite counter tops. Cook a full meal, serve ice cold drinks, and sit in front of a warm fireplace.  All while never going back in the house

Ponds and Waterfalls
Also known as waterscapes have drastically changed over the years.  Ponds used to be a lot of maintenance. They had hard shell liners that were hard to hide. They always had dirty scummy water, and if the pond was under a tree the problems mounted quickly. A new era in waterscapes has created almost zero maintenance.  Pond systems now have skimmers, filters, and nets. These keep them clean, and make installation positions limitless. New systems even allow to have a waterfall without the need for a pond. Call for a free video and information about how Matt's Landscapes, Inc. can design and install the waterscape of your dreams.
